Our friendship lasts forever.

I remember meeting Annette on our first day at Portsmouth Poly 40 years ago: both Londoners, her warmth, her smile and we have been friends ever since. To me, Annette was so grown up, married at Poly and living in married quarters with George. We had some great times and made some good friends along the way and still friends to this day. We were both on the 'Rag Committee'- charity appeals, where we met Mandy. We were , the three of us, seen as 'sisters', a label we were more than happy to take.

If my memory serves me right, when George thankfully came home from the Coventry, Annette was given permission by the Poly to sit her Statistics exam a different day so she could go and meet him. She was escorted by our maths tutor on his motorbike and still got her degree- a true fighter!

When Ben was little I remember babysitting for him and also visiting when Michael and I decided to live in Southsea, staying with Rick and Gill. Our friendship has often been based on the simple things in life like walking along the beach, cycling and swimming. We've had many fabulous times together like birthday parties in the garden for Sophie, more grown up parties, restaurants on the Albert Rd , weddings and Christmas celebrations. Our lives have been intertwined with many other lovely friends.

We've shared the love of teaching and a passion for 'education for all', a trip to Parliament and even leafleting in the rain.Annette was there for me when I made my inaugural speech as President of the local teachers association. She was always there for her friends.

We've had fun together at Victorious and the pleasure of weekends away together : Isle of Wight, Versailles and Stroud. Such lovely memories to cherish.

I am glad that Annette and George had wonderful adventures together and one of the last chats we had she said she wanted Michael and I to have adventures too. We will Annette, we will.

Most of all, I enjoyed a cup of tea and a chat with Annette: my adviser,my confidante and my tower of strength when Michael was poorly and times were tough. Annette always thought of others in everything she did.

Rest in peace knowing that your children are settled, having met your first grandchild and George supported by friends and family.

Love always 'sweetheart' , Love Jenny xx
